The name are sorted by rank.
This table shows the number of first names (1st or 1st and 2nd name) of children, born in the selected year, living in the Faroe Islands on 31st December.
The names are listed as they are registered registered in the national register. If a person only has one first name it will be counted as a distinct name. If a persons first name has a 1st and 2nd name e.g. Hans Petur the name also will be counted as one name.
According to Faroese law given names should be reported 6 months at the latest after the child is born. The statistics is therefore compiled the second half of the year.

Rank 1 = Most common name.
If several names have the same population they are given the same rank.
If e.g. two different names have maximum population they both rank as no 1 and no rank 2 is omitted.
